Welcome to the macprofessor future schedule.
We are still attempting to create the programming structure and class location.
We will have more information soon.
Well here is one I am are trying to put together or better yet help see that it happens.
MARCH 3rd 2012
The Neighborhood Leaders' Council Committee on Sustainability (NLC CoS) is organizing a
“Green Neighbors Faire” set for March 3, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Eugene.
The Fair will be an educational event and open to the public.
Its purpose is to help empower all ages to live more local and green.
The CoS is made up of representatives from 12 of Eugene's 21 neighborhood associations.
Our mission is to educate and advocate for reducing our ecological footprints,
help build a more resilient community, support the local economy and to make common cause with our neighbors.
We have organized over 30 bike tours the past four summers to show and tell what people are doing in the community
to live more friendly to people and planet.
We offer “local and green” education at the Good Earth Home Show, The Eugene Celebration and other venues.
Starting the new year, we are excited to be planning the Green Neighbors Faire.
There will be an area where people can learn practical new skills, on site, for real life application such as food preservation, emergency preparedness,
solar energy and much more. Presentations will also be practical with a focus on greening our neighborhoods.
Further, there will be a youth education area, almost its own event, with presentations, educational displays and
a great chance for young people to network and meet each other.
We also expect tabling by many of Eugene's most well known environmental and community service organizations.
Last but not least, the CoS will welcome Richard Heinberg as our keynote speaker. Author of many books and papers,
Richard has a great following as he lectures internationally about energy, climate, economics and culture.
He drew a standing room crowd of more than 700 to the Hilton six years ago. Richard walks his talk.
I have been to his suburban property in Santa Rosa and it's Permaculture design includes edible landscaping,
food forests along with passive solar architecture and rain water catchment.
